Talk about your quick trips, Florida had their 120 million lotto and we had friends who wanted tickets. Renee' and I was the only ones who could get off on a Friday, so we loaded up on the Goldwing.

We left Fayetteville, AR around 7 AM and arrived in Pensacola around 7:30PM. We stopped only for gas, and a quick meal. This trip was planned so quickly that we could not get a room on the beach so we had to stay at the Holiday Inn in Gulf Breeze. The following morning Renee and I went to the public beach on Santa Rosa Island and the water was so clear and beautiful that we really did not want to leave.

We stood in a very long line at the Circle K in Gulf Breeze to purchase the Lotto tickets (We are living proof that Arkansas is loosing money to Lottos.) and while we stood in line the lady behind us was talking to the lady in front of us and they discovered they knew each other. One lived in Florida and the other in Alabama. As they talked we soon discovered that both knew each other because they attended college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville about 25 year before and one of them lived next door to Attorney Mahlone Gibson who I knew because he was at that time the Circuit Judge. Talk about your small world.

Sadly we left Pensacola on that late summer Saturday afternoon and took a cool ride to Gulf Shores then up to Jackson, Mississippi where we spent the night. We arose early the next morning and dug up a paper only to learn that we did not win the 120 million. Our return ride from Mississippi was very nice as the late summer weather was ver pleasant.
